My Cardboard Life

Made from real cardboard

Space news / update news

I tricked you, there’s no space news, just a picture of Colin and Pauline in space. It’s not relevant to this blog post at all! HA!

The actual news is that I’ve got to change the update schedule to three days a week rather than five. Not forever! Probably just for a few months. I like making five comics a week, five is one of my favourite numbers. I’ll go back to five a week when I win back some time.

But anyway… for now the update schedule is going to be Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting from next week. Sorry about that. I’ll try and make them good ones!

Additional gossip: I did hourly comics for Hourly Comics Day last week. If you’ve not seen them already they are here and they demonstrate the kind of time wasting that gives me update troubles!

2011

It’s 2011! 2010 feels like old news already doesn’t it. So what are the predictions for 2011? More comics I reckon. And more appearances/conventions too. I’m going to be at TCAF in May. Maybe I’ll see you there? Or you could suggest some other conventions for me.

What else? Well, I am putting together a big book of all the My Cardboard Life comics so far (except maybe I’ll cut some). I think if I keep mentioning this I’ll be more likely to get on with it!

Here’s some links for you:

Three interviews! one at Pop Culture Monster one at The Comics Bureau and a video interview at Geek Syndicate.

And here’s a review of Cardboard Colin and the Wasps on the Forbidden Planet International blog.

Good luck for the new year everybody. Let’s all have a brilliant time.

Whistling Horse Super Fan

I made this as a practice collage when I was writing the Whistling Horse storyline. Thought I’d better show it while it’s still vaguely relevant.

What’s all the gossip then? Well, I’ve completed my list of 2010 conventions. If you came and visited me at any of those then thank you! I was pretty busy with all those conventions, and the storyline which involved extra work (there were a lot of business suits to make). Sorry if I’ve been a bit slow on getting back to emails and things, but I’ll be well behaved now.

The plan for December is to have an assortment of seasonal comics up until 24th December, and then have a break between Christmas and 3rd January. What are your plans? Let’s all enjoy the last month of 2010 yeah? It’s been quite a year.

New Diorama for Thought Bubble

New diorama time! It’s a miniature comic convention. There’s a whole set of photos of it here on Flickr

This diorama is for Thought Bubble, which is happening on Saturday. I will be there, and so will lots of other people, including the creators of all the miniature comics that you can see in the diorama. (full list in the Flickr set).

Other news and gossip:

Solipsistic Pop is so hot right now. It’s a sassy UK comics anthology and I’ve got some work in it.

Another Sassy anthology, Paper Science 3 has got work by me in it. Not collage though, it’s a drawing. If you don’t believe I’m capable of drawing, watch this video of me drawing my Paper Science 3 contribution. See how quick I am with that pen!

Here’s one more thing: a guest comic that I did for Left-Handed Toons. I did actually use my scalpel left handed. It felt very dangerous!
