and yes, I am confused, just like everyone else. But I think what Pauline is trying to say is that time doesn’t exist in the COMIC world. There IS no past in the comic world. Colin would stay the same age forever. (Not that anyone would notice if he grew up. He’d still look the same ;P)
This is just a theory of mine. But yes, confusing and compicated stuff.
It can also work if you recognize how verb tenses are dependent on time in order to have meaning.
Naturally this leads to all sorts of confusing statements possible in English (or pretty much any language)
Three of which I can think of at the moment:
Of course the past doesn’t exist it used to but it is completely over by now.
The past will never happen because it already did.
The future isn’t now but it will be.
Person A: The time is now.
Person B: That’s funny, it never was before.
I mean four, four things I could think of now. “Now” referring to the now back then which was before the now now, the current now, which just stopped happening because now NOW is now.
BOOM! Magic! the typo was gone! Wow, first time I ever saw that happening. Philippa sure was quick. So later readers, never mind the whole thing, cause it isn’t even there any more.
FIRST! YES! (First time posting, too! GO ME!) I love this comic! It makes me smile everyday.
I had the same look as Colin when I read the second panel…
Ahaha oh dear. As a philosophy student, I can definitely empathize with Colin! >< Love it.
(also – I think you typo'ed "exist" in the second panel!)
I sneakily fixed the typo! Thanks for pointing it out
Colin looks pissed
@Shanghai: yup. that’s a typo, alright.

“Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.” ^_^
Very deep. You should send that in to the Reader’s Digest, they’ve got a page for people like you. (I came in to say the same thing.)
Daylight savings does this to me every year, too. @_@
What a chore!
lol she through him for a loop
wow pauline, way to find the loophole in time..
Nooo…my life…..a lie….
Pauline has been watching too much Doctor Who, I think.
She needs to turn the telly off and be a better friend. ::nods::
