I wrote this re. the prev strip but it can’t be said enough so apologies, here it is again –
Love these comics and have followed them over from WCN, they always bring a smile to my face. When I saw this I thought “aaaw, no cardboarder collie – NOOOO!, she can’t do this!” So I’m glad he gets better
On a serious note tho’ folks, Philippa is making a valid point. What is Chocolatey goodness for us humans, is a long slow and painful death for dogs. Theobromine, one of the natural constituents of chocolate cannot be digested (metabolised) by dogs and builds up in their systems over time, affecting their nervous system. Initial symptoms can be agitation and vomiting, but build up to cardiac arrhythmias, epileptic seizures, internal bleeding, internal organ failure, cardiac arrest, and death. Prettty serious, huh? If you don’t believe me then talk to your vetinary surgeon or nurse.
ONLY Dog chocolate, made specifically for dogs, has had the nasties removed and is safe for your dog – but I wouldn’t recommend you eat it as it also has bone ash and other (safe) ingredients that dogs love! – eeew
That means, NO choccy cookies, cakes, biscuits, candies, sauces, sprinkles or drinks meant for humans are meant for your very own real or otherwise cardboarder collies or any other type of dog. Unless you want to genuinely kill it with “love”…
My dog seems to be immune: NOT that we feed her chocolate on purpose!!!! She just eats it right off of wherever… No matter how well we hide it, usually. Then she just gets bad gas. And I mean REALLLY bad gas. xP But yea. Don’t give chocolate to dogs.
