Penny
Some people pronounce penne “penny” and some people say “pen-ay”. Tesco pronounces it “pasta quills” and I like to say “food tubes”. What would you call it.
The book version of St Colin and the Dragon is now available to pre-order. Get it here in the shop. I’m really excited about it!
Pasta straws. Definitely.
i call it “you know, that pasta with the hole in it.”
I call all pasta “macaroni”, in order to drive the Italian-Americans around here crazy.
I call it Tennessee pasta cause it looks like Tennessee! :D. (that’s a state in the US for all you britishers(as my mother(that’s American for Mum for, again, all you Britishers)calls them/you)
I like the idea that Tennessee is “The Tubular State”. Maybe it could have netting and slides and be filled with coloured plastic balls. It would be the softplay of America.
Hi Pauline! I’m right here!
Hey, Penny is my real name (short for Penelope)!
I don’t call them ‘pen-neh’, which would be their actual pronunciation since in Spanish (and Italian) it’s pronunciation is too similar to that of the phallus, so I go with tubes as well.
Hello. (In response to all the hellos up there! :D)
I just call them pasta noodles lol
@Amy
Mother is not American for Mum. Mother means mother, that’s what anyone who speaks English would call a mother. I think you mean Mom?
I call them how they should be called…..
yeah, i’m boring
I would pronounce it ‘pen’. Which is obviously wrong, as it’s italian, not french.
Actually, though, I would generally call it ‘pasta’
Pen-ay, personally. How does Penne pronounce it?
I actually put both n’s in my pronunciation, and make the second syllable like the “eh” Canadian’s get teased for: “pen-neh”.
However, penne is by far my least favorite pasta, so I rarely say the word at all.
I used to say ‘pen-ay’, but now I think I’ll be calling them food tubes.
Very cute comic today! ☺
This is funny timing because on Thursday, the Canadian government announced it will no longer produce pennies!
I prinounce it “pen-ee” XD
It’s Italian so it should be pronounced “penneh”.
