Have you ever read a book, then seen the film of it and thought the film was better? I think I preferred the film of The Shining to the book, but then I never enjoy reading scary books.

I still think both “Bridget Jones” movies are way better than the books were. Those are the only two books I have ever been able to say that about.
I think “Holes” movie is approximately as good as the book, and “The Princess Bride” I liked better, although that was a while ago and I should probably reread it.

i much preferred whip it to the book it was based on.

only when the book was kinda marginal…. like Harry Potter.
I liked the Great Gatsby movie from the 70’s a lot better than the book. It was a dry read (for me, not a fan of Fitzgerald) but a lively movie.
