Have you got a 3DS? I feel like I want a 3DS, but every time I’ve played one for a bit it gives me a terrible headache.
Unrelated news: if you haven’t seen it yet, check out these photos of the window display I did at Page 45 last Friday. The artwork I’ve done for GameCity is starting to appear around Nottingham too!
WOW! i wish i had on of those.
Haha! Too clever. Btw, I just finised reading ALL the comics. Yay!
That was magical.
I had a Nintendo 3DS right after the price drop, I picked up Legend of Zelda and Mario 3D Land.
I always thought the 3D was outstanding, but the problem was, the developers never really took full advantage of it and to top it off, sometimes some of the 3D effects just freaked out.
A good example is some of the special effects in Legend of Zelda, they were in 3D, but they would just make my eyes bug out.
I found that if I played the 3DS while I had a headache, it got worse, but if I felt fine, I could play it for hours and I’d get a cramped hand before I got a headache.
Only problem was, at the time, the lack of library convinced me to sell it, and even now I am still not totally sold on the library.
What’s even worse, the new PS Vita, which I love the design, has NOTHING I want to play, not a single title.
Anyways, the bottom image would have been even better if you had done one of those flippy iso images people do to create a false sense of 3D.
Ah! You’re right! The model is still on my desk so I might try and make one of those 3D flippy image things to see how it looks.
The one thing on PS Vita I like the look of is Tearaway but I’ve not seen anything else for Vita that tempts me to get one.
aaaah I tried to make one and it did not turn out very well!
looks like colin is shimmying his money maker for some extra cash haha
I had the same problem, too, when I first purchased mine after my DS lite broke. However, I soon got used to the 3D effect, and now I don’t get headaches from it ever!
Honestly, the biggest problem with the device, is it’s poor battery life. It really only lasts five hours of game play. This doesn’t effect *me* too much, because if I’m likely to be playing a lot, I’m probably near an outlet at home or at school and if I’m on a road trip, I’ve got a car charger.
I also wish it had skype and facebook, but it’s never going to get apps like these, because of its young market… (sigh)
I would recommend the 3ds, because of all the new features, such as the estore (which isn’t completely new, but there’s a lot of great 3ds titles) and streetpass and spotpass, which add a little spice and fun to many games. I also find that it very convenient to watch netflix on my 3ds in public places or when I’m falling asleep.
You should also consider the 3ds xl. It does cost a few bills more, but if you’d like a bigger screen you may want to check it out.
(By the way, I liked the comic. XD)
It’s good to know that you can get used to the 3D! I had a go on a 3DS XL and the larger screen size makes a big difference. I’m tempted you know!
I don’t know about now, but in the past the eStore was a total mess, it was the worst design ever.
I never worried about the battery life, because honestly, who brings a portable with to play for 5+ hours? I use portables for quick, temporary gaming on the go. Anything longer and I want a sit down with my PS3 and a TV.
Street Pass and Spot Pass are only good for areas that are heavily populated and well known to have Nintendo 3DS users. In my area, I got NONE and I carried it with me everywhere except work.
OMG that is really so cool! Amazing! I really really wasn’t expecting the pop up hahaha
Wow! Love the window display! I want one!
I’ve got a 3DS, mostly because I knew all the games I wanted would start coming out on it. And this was soo my reaction when I turned the 3D up for the first time!
I think you shouldn’t really get a 3DS unless there’s plenty of things you want to get on it. I still play my 2D games most of the time, which actually look worse on a 3DS because they’re either tiny or blurry, plus, the new games are a little out of budget for me so I end up waiting ages for them to go down in price, so right now I still play my 2DS a lot.
Ha! You always come up with great ideas.
I got the 3DS because my old DS (like the really old one) finally died. I really enjoy street pass but so far I haven’t played it much with 3d on because you have to hold it a certain angle for it to look good and I mainly just play my 2D games on it since anyway. I also wish that Nintendo would release some more free apps. $2 seems a bit much for a calculator.
Who knew that’s what it took to get out of Flatland?
this is wonderful!! i pictured a magical boop noise when they appeared in 3D
the animated version is making me laugh so much haha.. it almost looks wrong.. teehee
What about those stereograms where two pictures are side by side and you cross your eyes to see a 3D version in the middle? That would be cool to see!
